Get to know your computer components

Do you know what components are inside your PC case and what is their job? No? Then carry on reading as this article may give you a brief idea of the computer components.

Some of you reading this article may think “What the hell is that guy talking about, everyone knows that stuff” but I would say “NO” you wrong as there are people who doesn't   So please do respect that and don’t write any stupid comments, about how basic this is.

Now let’s get back to our subject, computer components. What is inside the PC case? First let me list the main components that every computer system have and later we take a closer look at every each of them.

     -Graphics Card
     -Hard Drive
     -Optical Drive
     -Power Supply Unit

When we look at our PC all we see is the case as everything else is hidden inside. All the components that are listed above must be there as computer wouldn’t run without them. So let’s take a closer look at the components. What do we have?

Motherboard -is the central printed circuit board (PCB) that holds all of the computer components together. Motherboard is alternatively known as the mainboard, system board, or logic board on Apple computers.
Processor-Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the portion of a computer containing the logic circuitry that performs the instructions of a computer’s programs and process the data that is accessed by the computer.

Cooler-is used to keep computer components within their safe operating temperature limits, by removing the waste heat produced by computer components.

RAM-Random Access Memory is an integrated circuit that allows store data which is in current use so that they can be quickly reached by the computer’s processor.

Graphics Card-also known as video card is an extension card inserted to one of the PCI slots on the motherboard, and it generates output images to computer’s monitor or display screen.

Hard Drive-(HDD) is a computer component that is responsible for storing the large amounts of data on an electromagnetically charge surface or set of surfaces, so it can be relatively quick accessed when needed.

Optical Drive-actually Optical Disk Drive (ODD) is a computer component that uses laser light or electromagnetic waves to retrieve and store data on optical discs such as CD’s, DVD’s, BD’s which can store much more data than floppy disks.

Power Supply Unit-also known as PSU this a component that supplies our computer with energy by converting the mains AC to DC power which has lower voltage.

Case-The case is not only about how it looks from outside. This is a component that keeps all the computer components together in closed case.  So  they can operate in safe environment without being accidently damaged or cause any damage to the property in case of failure.

Optional Components
These listed and explained above are the main ones. However there is many optional ones that can be installed e.g.

Sound Card-also known as audio card is an extension card that can be connected to the PCI slots, and it is responsible for input and output the audio signals to and from a computer under control of computer software.

Network card-is an extension card inserted to one of the PCI slots on the motherboard, and it is one kind of network adapter, that support the Ethernet standard for high- speed network connections via cables. There are also available and more popular wireless cards. These allows you to connect to the internet without connecting an ethernet cable.

There is many more additional components that can be installed in your PC e.g. Card reader, Fan speed controller etc..
